İzahFerdinand-Philippe d'Orléans - La patrie est en danger 1830.jpg
"La patrie est en danger." Lithograph by Ferdinand-Philippe d'Orléans (1810-1842). Library of Congress description: "French political cartoon uses a scene from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels to compare the situation surrounding the 1830 July Revolution in France to the time when l'Assemblée (the French revolutionary government) issued a proclamation on 11 July 1792 in a response to a war threat. Print shows Lilliputians fastening Gulliver to the ground and rushing around in other activities. Hovering above the scene is a hot air balloon." Ferdinand-Philippe d'Orléans was both a patron of the arts and an amateur engraver.
