Tarixi rekonstruksiya və ya tarixi canlandırma — adətən həvəskar hobbi sahibləri və tarix həvəskarlarının tarixi formalar geyinərək müəyyən bir tarixi hadisəni və ya dövrü yenidən canlandırmaq üçün həyata keçirdikləri ədəbi-bədii əyləncə (təhsil və əyləncə xarakterli) fəaliyyəti.[1]
Tarixi rekonstruksiya iştirakçıları əsasən həvəskarlardan ibarət olsa da, bəzi iştirakçıları peşəkar hərbçilər və ya tarixçilərdir. İştirakçılara "rekonstruktor" deyilir və onlar adətən daşıyacaqları və ya istifadə edəcəkləri avadanlıq, forma və digər ləvazimatların canlandırılan dövrə tam müvafiq olmasını təmin edirlər. Rekonstruktorlar ehtiyac duyduqları geyim və ya əşyaları xüsusi mağazalardan satın alır və ya özləri hazırlayırlar. Tarixi rekonstruksiyalar antik dövrün sonlarından post-klassik və erkən müasir dövrə qədər olan geniş bir zaman dilimini, həmçinin dünya müharibələri, Soyuq müharibə dövrü və XXI əsrin əvvəlləri kimi daha yaxın dövrləri əhatə edir.[2]
