Python curtus, Hermann Schlegel tərəfindən 1872-ci ildə Sumatradan qısa quyruqlu bir piton üçün təklif edilmiş elmi addır. Nomenklatur tipi Sumatradır.[4][5]
Python curtus, Riau Arxepeleqosu, Linqqa adaları, Banqka adaları, Mentawai adaları və Kalimantanda rast gəlinir. Yağış meşələrində, bataqlıqlarda, bataqlıqlarda və çay kənarları və axınların yaxınlığında yaşayır.[3][6]
