P. brongersmai üçün ümumi adlara qan pitonu,[3][4] Brongersma qısa quyruqlu pitonu, Malayziya qan pitonu, qırmızı qan pitonu, qırmızı qısa quyruqlu piton və Sumatra qan pitonu daxildir.
Brongersmai xüsusi adı, Hollandiyalı herpetoloq Leo Brongersma'nın şərəfinə adlandırılmışdır.[5]
