Maykl Corc Endrü Eksvorti 1998–2000-ci illərdə Britaniya Xarici İşlər, Birlik və İnkişaf Departamenti İran şöbəsinə rəhbərlik etmişdir.[5][6] Qeyri-bədii janrda nəşr etməklə yanaşı, o, "Prospect" və "The Independent" jurnallarına, eləcə də "BBC Radio 4" radiostansiyasının "Start the Week" verilişinə töhfə vermişdir. 2008-ci ildə Eksvorti Ekseter Universitetinin Ərəb və İslamşünaslıq İnstitutunun nəzdində yerləşən Fars və İranşünaslıq Mərkəzinə (CPIS) rəhbərlik etmişdir. 2019-cu ilin mart ayında xərçəng xəstəliyindən vəfat etmişdir.[7]
