Professor Linda Qarland hazırda Avstraliyanın Kvinslend Universitetinin Tarix və Fəlsəfi Tədqiqatlar Məktəbində Klassiklər üzrə fəxri dosentidir.[2] O, Nyu İnqlənd Universitetində (Avstraliya) Qədim və Orta əsrlər tarixi üzrə professordur.[3] Qarland həm də Nyu İnqlənd Universitetində, Yeni Cənubi Uelsdə dərs deyir və Armideyldə Nyu İnqlənd Universitetində Humanitar Elmlər Məktəbinin Rəhbəri vəzifəsində çalışır.[3][4]
Professor Qarland Klassik antik dövrdən erkən orta əsrlərə qədərki tarixi tədqiq edir. Onun tədqiqatları qadınlara, xüsusən də imperiyanın şahzadələrinə və imperatorlara, onların Bizans dövründə ailə və cəmiyyətdəki əlaqələri və statusuna yönəlmişdir.
