Deinacrida heteracantha — eyni zamanda Little Barrier nəhəng veta və ya vetapunga (Maori dilində: wētāpunga) olaraq tanınan, "Orthoptera" cinsi və "Anostostomatidae" ailəsinə aid olan bir wēta.[1]

Deinacrida heteracantha ilk dəfə 1842-ci ildə şotlandiyalı zooloq Adam White tərəfindən təsvir edilib.[2] 1882-ci ildə William Colenso bu növü Hemideina gigantea kimi təsvir edib;[3] a name which was later brought into synonymy with D. heteracantha.[4] bu ad daha sonra "D. heteracantha" ilə sinonim olaraq qəbul edilib. Colensonun 1839-cu ildə topladığı holotip, Yeni Zelandiyada tapılan ən qədim entomoloji nümunədir.[4]
