Qaraqarın cırcırama quşunun xətti formatdakı yeri hələ də müəyyən edilməmişdir. "Beynəlxalq Ornitoloji Komitə" (IOC) və "Clements" taksonomiyası onu cırcıramaçılar ailəsi daxilində fərqli yerləşdirir. Bu növ monotipikdir (tək yarımnövə malikdir).[4] [5]
