Erl (qadın üçün kontes),ingilis mənşəli zadəgan titulu, konta bərabərdir. Qədim norveç dilində Jarl titulu ilə əlaqələndirilir. Mənşəyinə görə "cəsur adam" və ya "döyüşçü" deməkdir.
Erl adı Skandinaviya və Anqlosaks mənşəli titulu olaraq "qəbilə başçısı" mənasında meydana gəlmişdir. Titul orta əsrlərdə Skandinaviyada yoxa çıxsa da, İngiltərədə istifadəsinə davam edilmişdir. Bu titul rütbə olaraq vikont və markiz arasında sıralanır və materik Avropasındakı kont tituluna müvafiq gəlir.
