Deutsch: Der Kanton Waadt ist ein Kanton im Westen der Schweiz. Deutsch: Waadt; Französisch: Vaud; Italienisch: Vaud; Rätoromanisch: Vad. Der Kanton wird als die Waadt oder auch als das Waadtland bezeichnet, im Französischen Pays de Vaud. Die Einheimischen werden als Waadtländer, im Französischen als Vaudois bezeichnet.
Die Höchste Erhebung bildet das Les Diablerets Massiv (3210 m ü. M.), der tiefste Punkt: (372 m ü. M.) liegt am Genfersee. Der Kanton Waadt liegt im Westen der Schweiz. Die Waadt erstreckt sich vom Genfersee zum Neuenburgersee. Sie grenzt im Nordwesten an die französischen Départements Ain, Jura, und Doubs, im Südwesten an den Kanton Genf, im Südosten an das Wallis, im Osten an die Kantone Freiburg und Bern und im Nordosten an Neuenburg. Über den Genfersee hinaus grenzt das Waadtland an das französische Département de:Haute-Savoie. Der Nordwesten des Waadtlands wird vom Jura eingenommen, der Südosten von den Alpen. Der Rest befindet sich im Mittelland. Im Nordosten bildet der Bezirk Avenches eine vom Kanton Freiburg umschlossene Exklave. Auf der anderen Seite besitzt Freiburg drei Enklaven in der Waadt. Es existiert zudem die Genfer Enklave de:Céligny im Südwesten des Kantons.

Français : Le canton de Vaud (VD) est un canton de Suisse dont la capitale est Lausanne. Le nom vient du fr:latin Pagus Valdensis c'est à dire Pays Vaudois, ou Pays des forêts (terme qui a fait son apparition au VIIe siècle), en passant par le fr:francoprovençal Vôd. Le canton de Vaud occupe la majeure partie de l’Ouest de la Suisse. Ses frontières s’étendent des bords du lac Léman à ceux du lac de Neuchâtel et du lac de Morat. Il possède des frontières internationales avec la France à l’Ouest (frontière terrestre avec les départements de l’Ain, du Jura et du Doubs) et au Sud (frontière sur le Léman avec le département de la Haute-Savoie), ainsi que des frontières nationales au Sud-Ouest avec le canton de Genève, au Nord avec le canton de Neuchâtel, à l’Est avec les cantons de Fribourg et Berne, et au Sud-Est avec le canton du Valais. Le canton de Vaud possède une fr:enclave dans le canton de Fribourg: Avenches. Le canton de Genève possède une enclave dans le canton de Vaud : Céligny. Le canton de Fribourg possède trois enclaves dans le canton de Vaud : Estavayer-le-lac, fr:Vuissens, fr:Surpierre. On trouve deux chaînes de montagnes, le Jura à l’Ouest et les Alpes dans le Sud-Est. Le 28 juin 2007, les vignobles de Lavaux ont été inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité, UNESCO.
