Yunis–Varon sindromu (YVS) — Son dərəcə nadir olan, avtosomal resesiv irsiyyətlə keçən və çoxsaylı sistemləri əhatə edən, doğuşdan gələn sindrom. Bu sindrom sümük sistemi, ektodermal toxuma, ürək və tənəffüs sisteminə təsir edir.[1][2][3][4][5] İlk dəfə "Kolumbiya Milli Universiteti"nin tədqiqatçıları Emilio Yunis və Humberto Varon tərəfindən təsvir edilmişdir.

Bu sindrom avtosomal resesiv olaraq irsən keçir.[4][6] FIG4 genini kodlayan bir neçə mutasiya Yunis–Varon sindromunun səbəbi olaraq tapılmışdır. Bu mutasiyalardan bəziləri zülal funksiyasının tamamilə itirilməsinə, digərləri isə yüksək qorunan residu bölgələrində amin turşusu dəyişikliklərinə səbəb olur. Bütün FIG4 mutasiyaları Yunis–Varon sindromuna səbəb olmur; bəzi mutasiyalar Charcot–Marie–Tooth xəstəliyinin müxtəlif formalarına, Amyotrofik lateral skleroz 11-ə və iki tərəfli temporo-okkipital polimikrogiriyaya səbəb olur.[7][8][9][10] Yunis–Varon sindromuna tutulan xəstələr FIG4-də zərərli mutasiyaların homozigot, kompozit homozigot və ya kompozit heterozigot vəziyyətində olurlar.[11][12][13][14][15][16]
