Stela[1] və ya stel — ucaldılmış və hündürlüyü enindən uzun olan monolitik bir daşdan ibarət olan bir əsərdir. Söz yunan dilində stele, yəni, "dik dayanan blok" sözündən yaranmışdır. Taxta olanları da tapılmışdır. Fərqli şəkildə istifadə olunan müxtəlif növ stellər var. Məsələn, xüsusilə Qədim Yunanıstanda tapılan məzar daşları şəklində stellər var. Bunlara qəbir stelləri də deyilir. Amarnada sərhədləri işarələyən Akhenaten steli var; stellər həm də sərhəd göstəriciləri kimi istifadə olunmuşdurlar. Bunlardan başqa, hərbi qələbələri xatırladan stellər də mövcuddur. Mesopotamiyada stellər əsasən padşahların əmrlərinin yazılmış olduğu abidələr kimi tapılmışdır.
Stellər, Qədim Yaxın Şərqdə, Yunanıstanda və Misirdə və həmçinin müstəqil şəkildə Çində bəzi Buddist mədəniyyətlərində və Mezoamerikan mədəniyyətlərində görünmüşdür. Qədim Misir və Orta Amerikadan gələn çox sayda stellər bu mədəniyyətlər haqqında ən böyük və ən vacib məlumat mənbələrindən biridir. Stellərdəki kitabələr və rəsmlər o dövrün özü və sivilizasiyası haqqında mühüm məlumatlar verir.
