İzahEuphemia Steele Innes (2a).JPG

On the right of this picture is Euphemia Steele Innes (1874-1955), a Scottish nurse. She was Matron of Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, for 21 years. She founded the Leeds Nurses' League in 1925. On the left is Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, a daughter of George V. In the centre is Nurse Cecile Anderson receiving the Eva Moynihan medal.

  • Point of interest: The Eva Moynihan prize was instituted by Lord Moynihan in 1919 in memory of his sister Eva, who had served as matron at Leeds General Infirmary. "The prize is awarded to a final year nursing student who has demonstrated exemplary performance throughout his/her course in academia, clinical practice, professional conduct and ambassadorship. The prize is funded by Leeds Cares, formerly known as the Leeds Hospital Charitable Foundation.". (Source: University of Leeds, School of Healthcare)
