English: Boothferry Park, Hull Neglected and badly vandalised despite many warning notices about security cameras and guard dog patrols, seen here looking southeast from the West Stand entrance off North Road. Home of Hull City AFC from August 1946 until December 2002 when the new KC Stadium was officially opened at West Park off Anlaby Road. Use of the Boothferry Park site was negotiated as long ago as 1929 but financial difficulties followed by the use of the ground for repairing tanks during World War 2 delayed its opening somewhat. Boothferry Park was unusual in that it had its own railway station which operated from 1951 until 1985 when the nearby East Stand was declared unsafe and closed to the public. |
