Deutsch: Das Bild zeigt einen Jungen, der an einer gesicherten Keuchhusten-Infektion erkrankt ist. Keuchhusten ist eine hochansteckende, durch Impfung zu verhütende Infektionserkrankung, die durch Bordetella pertussis, ein gramnegatives Stäbchenbaktrium hervorgerufen wird. Die Erkrankung dauert typischerweise mehrere Wochen und beeinträchtigt vor allem kleine Kinder durch schwere stakkatoartige Hustenanfälle mit pfeifender Einatmung zum Ende des Anfalls und Erbrechen von zähem Schleim.

Pertussis is a highly communicable, vaccine-preventable disease due to Bordetella pertussis, a gram-negative coccobacillus, lasting for many weeks and typically afflicts children with severe coughing, whooping, and posttussive vomiting. |
