English: Sadi Öziş and İlhan Koman, two important sculptors from Turkey, founded a metal-sculpture atelier in 1955 within the State Academy of Fine Arts in İstanbul. Due to a lack of interest in contemporary sculpture in the country and their own financial issues they also produced furniture to sell. In 1956 they opened a private atelier called Kare Metal with financial support. In 1957 a third artist, Şadi Çalık, joined the group. Together they created lines of furniture composed from unusual materials like industrial piping and metal fibers. The products were considered to be avant-garde for the time and became fashionable to buy. In 1958 Koman and Çalık chose to focus on more conceptual artistic endeavors and left Kare Metal. Öziş continued producing furniture until 1966 under the name Kare Metal and Galeri T.
