Soodanich dat deselve tractaten / opden 15en der voorlede maendt bij Commissarissen van sijne Hoocheijt den heere Protector der voors(eijde) Republijcque, ende d'heeren extra- / ordinaris Ambassadeurs van desen Staedt tot Westmunster in Engelandt finaelijck sijn gesloten. Mitsgaders ten wedersijden met / behoorlijcke onderteeckeninge, ende bezegelinge becrachticht. Ende specialijck geleth op t'ernstich versoeck, bij hooch gem(elte) sijne / Hoocheijt tot vaststellinge vande(n) voors(eijde) Tractaten, ende omme den voorgeroerden vrede eeuwich duijrende te maecken, iterativelijck / gedaen. Mitsgaders opde apprahensie, die deselve sijne Hoocheijt te meermaelen verclaert heeft te hebben, van dat den heere Prince / van Oraigne, ofte desselfs naercomelingen, als sijnde descendenten vanden huijse van Stuardt, t'eenigen tijde alhier gedesereert / werdende de hoochste ampten vanden Staedt. Daeruijt om verscheijden respecten lichtelijck groote diffidentien, ende jalousien tusschen / beijde de natien souden comen te rijsen, ende vervolgens mede het voorgeroerde gehandelde daer door gelabefacteert wordende, / deselve natien wel lichtelijck wederomme in een swaeren, ende bedroeffden oorloch souden mogen comen te vervallen. T'welck de / Hoochgem(elte) heeren Staten, genegen sijnde in alle mannieren te verhoeden, hebben naer voorgaende speciale beschrijvinge, ende naer / rijpe deliberatie, op t'gene voors(eijt) is, gedaen ende gehouden, tot verhoedinge vande voorgeroerde onheijlen, ende tot voorcominge van / verder effusie van Christen bloedt. Oock voornaementlijck omme meer hoochgem(elte) sijne Hoocheijt inde voorgeroerde desselfs becomme- / ringe, soo veel in haer is, volcomentlijck gerust te stellen. Ende omme t'effect vande voorgeroerde tractaten metter daet te genieten, / mitsgaders omme deselve ten goede van beijde de natien eeuwichduijrende te maecken, wel willen verclaeren, gelijck deselve verclaeren / bijdesen, dat haer Ed(ele) Groot mo(gende) nimmermeer den gem(elte) heere Prince van Oraigne, ofte ijemandt van desselfs linie, sullen verkiesen tot / Stadthouder, ofte Admirael van haere Provincie. Nochte toestaen, voor soo veel het advies van haere Provincie aengaet, dat deselve oijt / werden geeligeert tot het Capiteijnschap Generael over de militie vande Generaliteijt. Daertoe haer bijdesen inder beste forme obligerende. / Gegeven in s'Gravenhaege onder t'groot zegel vanden lande den vierden Meij XVI(hondert) vier ende vijftich (4 mei 1654).

[The States of Holland and West Friesland, have considered and regarded that it has pleased God the Almighty Lord to mercifully bless with a joyous outcome the treaty of peace, union and confederacy; negotiated for some time between the Republic of England, Scotland and Ireland on the one hand, and the State of the United Netherlands on the other. (Blessed) In such a way that the same treatises were finally agreed at Westminster in England on the 15th of the previous month; by the commissioners of His Highness the Lord Protector of the aforementioned Republic and the extraordinary lords ambassadors of this State. Accordingly ratified with signatures and seals, and especially regarding the grave request made by the above-mentioned His Highness, to determine the aforementioned treatises. And to make the considered peace everlasting, (the aforementioned treatises were) made iteratively. As well as on the apprehension, which the same His Highness has repeatedly expressed, that the lord Prince of Orange or his offspring, being descendants of the House of Stuart, removed here (in England) for some time, might take the highest state offices. Out of this might easily rise great diffidence and jealousy between both nations in various respects; subsequently weakening the considered (treatises) and easily bringing both nations once more into a grave and saddening war. The above-mentioned lords of the States (of Holland and West Friesland) being inclined to avert such by all means, have agreed to the aforesaid, in accord with the preceding special description, after lengthily deliberation; preventing such calamities, as well as the further shed of Christian blood. Moreover, to fully assure the above-mentioned concerns of His Highness over the same, in as much as she (the States of Holland and West Friesland) could, and to fully enjoy the effect of the treatises in practice, as well as to make the same everlasting for the good of both nations; the same hereby declare that Her Honorable Potent (States of Holland and West Friesland) will never again appoint the named lord Prince of Orange, or one of his descendants, as stadtholder or admiral of her province. Nor allow that the same will ever be nominated for the office of captain general over the militia of the Generality, for as much it concerns her province's advise in such. To this end hereby obligating herself to the utmost degree. Done in The Hague with the country's great seal, the 4th of May 1654.
