Swedish Red Cross sisters have not been through a revolution when they commemorate the centennial. But the development has gradually reshaped care and those who work in it. The old nursing home: A boarding school that the sisters created themselves in the 1800s through fundraising and by waiving part of their salaries. Next to this home: A high-rise buildings of glass and concrete. It's the new staff quarters, where the girls live on their own in the studios, independent of the school.

Sveriges rödakorssystrar har inte varit med om någon revolution inom sin kår, då de nu firar hundraårsjubileum. Men utvecklingen har successivt omskapat sjukvården och dem, som arbetar i den. Man ser det i det yttre. Det gamla sjuksköterskehemmet: ett internat som systrarna skapade själva på 1800-talet genom insamlingar och genom att avstå en del av sin lön. Bredvid detta hem: ett modernt höghus i glas och betong. Det är det nya personalhotellet, där flickorna bor för sig själva i ettor, oberoande av skolan.
