| İzah | Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis engages with Minister of National Defence Mr. Nurettin Canikli at the NATO building in Brussels, Belgium on June 7, 2018. Today, NATO Defense Ministers took important steps to strengthen the Alliance’s Command Structure to ensure rapid reinforcement across the Atlantic and Europe. Ministers decided to add more than 1,200 personnel to the Command Structure. The Alliance will also establish a new Joint Force Command for the Atlantic at Norfolk, Virginia (USA) and a new Enabling Command at Ulm (Germany). Ministers also endorsed a new NATO Readiness Initiative and discussed the importance of continuing to increase defence investments to make the Alliance stronger and more agile in response to the most serious security challenges in a generation.
