I mostly spend my time on Wikidata, with forays into Wikicommons, enwiki (and occasionally, other wikis 165 in all). I connect things: people to identifiers, to taxa, to scholarly articles, to places, to things whose name honours them and so on; taxa to ids, to articles, to authorities, to places. One of my aims is to make SPARQL queries return better answers, because there now exists more data, linked to many more Qitems.

I uploaded over 40,000 Australian Faunal Directory IDs (P6039) , and I am currently working on populating Korean National Species List ID P13330 (now over 29,000 ids added). This id is particularly useful as it often gives the Hangul name for a species or subspecies. When I am attracted to a name or sense a possible error, this often gives rise to an enwiki page and to other taxon ids being added to a Qitem.

This work is endlessly enjoyable. I lately learned that:

1. Rock cut in the Kimberley has been dated by looking at the luminescence of the quartz grains in mud-wasp nests.
2. some wasp/termite relationships are so tightly bound in terms of benefits to both species, that they co-evolved.
