Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem
What man is a man who does not make the world better
About me
Born and raised in Kerman, a historic city in southeastern Iran, I, Iman Fakhri Joshani (in Farsi: ایمان فخری جوشانی), now call Tehran home. As a PhD candidate in History of Islam, my academic passion lies in the fascinating intersection of East and West during the medieval period—specifically, the Crusades and the Latin East, with particular emphasis on the history of mentalities and collective memory. Beyond the Crusades, my scholarly interests extend to medieval history from the 10th to 15th centuries, as well as the modern and contemporary history of the Middle East and North Africa.
My work
My journey with Wikipedia and its sister projects began in 2016 through an education program at Shahid Beheshti University. What started as academic curiosity has blossomed into a multifaceted commitment to knowledge sharing. Beyond my ongoing contributions to Wikipedia and related projects in areas of expertise, I have evolved into a co-founder, organizer, and mentor within the Wikipedia education program at Shahid Beheshti University.
This mentoring role, which I continue to embrace today, has allowed me to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and collaborative knowledge creation. I am also a member of the Iranian Wikimedians User Group, working alongside dedicated volunteers to expand access to reliable information in Persian and beyond.
